Town Hall Usage for Community Purposes

A community needs a place to be able to assemble and discuss the needs of the community.

Motion M2014-0010

Whereas a community needs to be able to assemble in order to function as a community

and Whereas the Denbigh town hall is paid for through property taxes

and Whereas most services such as roads, policing, waste management and fire departments provided by the municipality are not expected to “pay for themselves”

and Whereas a community meeting convened to discuss community concerns, open to everyone and without admission charges can not reasonably be considered as a “rental” of the town hall

now therefore be it Resolved

that the Denbigh community be allowed to hold meetings in the hall without charge if said meetings are open to anyone wishing to attend, are without charges of any kind, are orderly and civil and discuss concerns of the community at large

and be it further Resolved that this motion be forwarded to the Council of the Municipality of Addington Highlands
