Waste Management

Whereas the Denbigh waste site has been under temporary closure for several years;

and Whereas Addington Highlands has madethe changes requested by the Ministry of the Environment;

and Whereas the Denbigh site is the most geologically secure and optimally located site in Ward 1;

and Whereas the reasons for the site remaining closed are unclear;

now therefore be it Resolved that the Denbigh Townwhall write a letter to the Ministry of the environment requesting that the Ministry articulate the reasons for the site remaining closed;

and be it further resolved that the Ministry be requested to provide a detailed list of the actions that need to be taken for the site to re-open;

and be it further Resolved that the Ministry assure the Denbigh Townhall that said list is complete and final and that the Ministry will permit the township to re-open the site when the requirements detailed in the list are complete;

and be it further resolved that said letter further request that the Ministry detail, for each element of said list, the legislation and or regulations that enpower the Ministry impose the said element as a prerequisite for re-opening the site;

Passed with 2/3 majority.
