Whereas the OPP web site states:
The Police Services Act Requires:
Section 4 PSA sets the responsibility for providing adequate and effective police
services with the municipality.
The PSA requires:
Delivery of adequate and effective police services in accordance with local needs;
Municipalities are to provide necessary administration and infrastructure to support adequate and effective police services;
Five core police services are to be delivered:
Crime prevention;
Law enforcement;
Victim assistance;
Public order maintenance; and
Emergency response services;
and Whereas the Opp web site further states:
Crime Prevention
The regulation requires that every police service provide community-based crime prevention initiatives in
accordance with local needs.
The regulation also requires that every police service have procedures and processes on community-based
crime prevention initiatives.
Furthermore the regulation requires that every police service have procedures and processes on
problem-oriented policing.
and Whereas the OPP web site further states ( in part ):
Law Enforcement
The regulation requires that every police service have in place processes to address:
Twenty-four hour policing;
Community patrols.
Now therefore be it resolved that the Denbigh Townhall write a letter to the OPP detachment commander requesting a copy of the OPP procedure to provide “community-based crime prevention initiatives in accordance with local needs” for the Denbigh community;
and be it further resolved that a copy of the OPP “procedures and proceses on community-based crime prevention initiatives” for the Denbigh community be provided;
and be it further resolved that a copy of the OPP “procedures and processes on problem-oriented policing” for the Denbigh community be provided;
and be it further resolved that a copy of the OPP “processes to address twenty-four hour policing” for the Denbigh community be provided;
and be it further resolved that a copy of the OPP “process to address community patrols” for the Denbigh community be provided.
Passed with 2/3 majority.
