Chair and Co-chair

A townhall meeting should involve as many members of the community as possible. Therefore, the Chair of the meeting should change with each meeting.

Motion 2014-001

Whereas a town hall meeting should involve may members of the community

and Whereas the Chair of a meeting has an important role to play

and Whereas townhall meetings will not be successful if they do not actively encourage members of the community to participate

and Whereas a person who is responsible for chairing a meeting should have an opportunity to gain experience

now therefore be it Resolved

that a townhall meeting will have a Chair and a Co-chair

and be it further Resolved that the Chair will be responsible for the conduct of the meeting for the first half of the agenda and the Co-chair will be responsible for the second half

and be it further Resolved that the first item of business at every meeting shall be the selection of a Co-chair for the next meeting

and be it further Resolved that the Chair or Co-chair who is not currently conducting the meeting shall be responsible for counting the votes and ensuring that all motions are properly endorsed by the mover and seconder, have the vote counts recorded and have the date recorded.

And be it further Resolved that the Co-chair of the current meeting shall be the Chair of the next meeting.
