Consideration of Motions

Discussion of a motion will begin with a discussion of the motion as it appears on the agenda.

When the chair feels that the discussion is not advancing a vote will be called and the results counted.

It the motion is carried ( 2/3 or more in favour ) or lost ( 1/3 or less in favour ) its consideration is complete.

If the result is undecided, a discussion will take place to attempt to modify the wording of the motion so that the result of a vote will be either a carried or a lost. The Chair or Co-chair who is not currently active will write out the modified motion. The modified motion will be read aloud before any subsequent vote.

If the Chair feels that further discussion is unlikely to be productive, the motion, as currently amended, will be placed on the agenda for the next meeting.

Under no circumstances will a motion be taken off the agenda until it has either been carried or lost.
